a job but can't find one our work isn't done. >> reporter: rounding out his day campaign stops in nevada and colorado. it combined 15elect, roal votes. the running mates also out in full force. four campaign events between the two. in iowa, the vice president accused the romney campaign of flip-flopping. > >> they are shameless. >> reporter: in colorado paul ryan argued the obama policies aren't working >> reporter: over the next several days you can expect to see more events just like those in the remaining swing states. also though don't be surprise fire department the campaigns -- surprised if the campaigns decide to add extra stops. >> talked more about where they will be so tell us in the remaining days where. >> reporter: this is going to be one busy schedule for both of them. let's start with romney and show you what he will be up too tomorrow. he will travel to wisconsin and ohio and then over the weekend he will make five more trips to different states. moving onto obama tomorrow he will be in ohio as well and then he will visit six other battleground states over the weekend.

, nevada and colorado. karen travers, abc news, washington. >> by all measures this is still a tied race, that is still going to come down to a few key swing states, ohio. according to a "the new york times" poll we got yesterday, halloween. obama up by five points, 50-45 over romney in ohio. if, you know, like i said you don't know the impact of the storm. you've don't know, every poll says something different. so you don't know how it will play out. all eyes really, ohio and -- and florida. but then democrats could be losing ground, in what they thought were solid blue states including michigan and minnesota now. >> you would think though the folks in florida, with all of the hurricanes that they get, they want someone they can respond, vigorously and robustly to, to this type of tragedy. and with chris christie, vouching for president obama, i would think that that would have some sort of effect on, perhaps florida voters. >> you know what else, i hope i haven't, mentioned new orleans on the show this week. i think when the way you see politicians and your local leaders, even media, w

on the trail. president obama visits wisconsin, nevada and colorado for the first campaign since sandy hit. >> we can't go on the we're on. we can't change course in america if we keep on attacking each other. we've got to come together and get america on track again. >> reporter: the race is still a dead-heat. the daily abc news/"washington post" tracking poll show the candidates tied among likely voters at 49%. the same poll found president obama's response to the superstorm positively. 78% say mr. obama's handling the situation excellent or good. the president toured storm-ravaged new jersey with republican governor chris christie. >> hang in there. >> reporter: the governor, usually one of the president's harshest critics had nothing but find words for him. >> he's worked closely with me. and i can't thank the president enough for his personal concern and compassion for our state and the people of our state. >> reporter: both the romney and obama campaigns think they're winning. the obama campaign points to the president leading or tied with romney in the eight closest battlegrounds. w

playing defense. the president, back on the campaign trail today. going to wisconsin, colorado and nevada. mitt romney will be campaigning in virginia. george, you can expect both of them to be campaigning virtually nonstop between now and tuesday. >> no question about it. they're going to be focused on the white battleground states and the pink in north carolina, over the next several days. want to give you a sense of each side's strategy. what the obama campaign is trying to do is build a firewall in the big american states, iowa, wisconsin. he gets to 271 electoral votes. and if mitt romney wins all of the other battlegrounds right there, he'll come up a little bit short, which may explain, jon, one of the reasons the romney campaign is trying to put new efforts into minnesota and pennsylvania and michigan, where they have been behind so far. but if they're able to pick off any one of those three states, that's enough to put him over the top. and one of the things we're seeing, you talk about the travel in the last few days. these battleground states, jon, are also completely inundated
